About the Houseparties We run houseparties during both the Easter and Summer holiday periods. If you want to attend a summer houseparty, you have a choice of three different weeks. Dates, age ranges and prices for 2009 are: Book now for 2009!
Activities We offer a range of activities, including sport, music and other games. Members are welcome to take part in any activity that interests them, or just to sit back and relax. During summer houseparties several off-site activities are available, including horse-riding, boating and fishing. Members wishing to take part in any of the off-site activities will usually be asked to sign up at the houseparty, and may need to pay a small fee for them (usually under £10). Note that space on some of these activities may be limited. There is also the very popular day trip to Portsmouth, which is attended by most people on the houseparty. Members are advised to take some additional money to the houseparty to cover these activities. Easter trips include Bowling and Laser Quest. "Spiritual Stuff" Each day there are two meetings, one in the morning and one in the evening, at which a talk is given on some aspect of the Christian faith. There are also times of worship and prayer during these meetings. In addition there are small group discussions during the evenings, in which members meet with their own dormitory groups. For those who are interested, there are optional seminars covering various Biblical topics. Our aim is to present the truth of Christianity in a way that is relevant to our lives today. A range of Christian books can be purchased from the houseparty bookstall. We do not expect members to be super-spiritual; we hope that what we present will be of interest to everyone, but do not want to force it on anyone. There is Christian teaching, but you're very welcome regardless of whether or not you believe in it or attend a church. Accommodation Accommodation is in single-sex dormitories. Members are grouped into dormitory groups, usually consisting of 3 - 8 young people of around the same age, along with 2 or 3 leaders. At Haslemere the accommodation consists of twin and dorm-style rooms. Food Three cooked meals are provided each day. We will accommodate any special dietary requirements of which we are aware; before the houseparty begins, members are given forms on which they can inform us of any specific requirements. Drinks and biscuits are offered during the day, and we often run a tuck shop for part of the day. Snacks may also be purchased at the nearby supermarket. We do not allow alcoholic drinks to be purchased or consumed during the houseparties. Cost The houseparty fees for 2009, covering food and accommodation, will be £180 for easter (5 nights) and £257 for summer (8 nights). This includes a £25 deposit which is paid with when the booking is first made; the rest is due before the houseparty begins. If the cost is a problem, contact us for advice on possible funding arrangements. The fee covers most on-site activities, but there are also some optional off-site activities for which there may be additional fees. These will usually be under £10 each (often under £5); anyone wishing to attend any of these can sign up and pay for them after arriving at the houseparty, so bring some money to pay for these and also for the bookstall, tuck shop, trips to town etc. |
