Activities

We offer a range of activities, including sport, music and other games. Members are welcome to take part in any activity that interests them, or just to sit back and relax.

During summer venture holidays several off-site activities are available, including horse-riding, boating and inflatable assault course swimming pool sessions. Members wishing to take part in any of the off-site activities will usually be asked to sign up at Haslemere, and may need to pay a small fee for them (usually under £10). Note that space on some of these activities may be limited. There is also the very popular day trip to Portsmouth, which is attended by most people on the houseparty. Members are advised to take some additional money to cover these activities.

Easter trips may include Bowling, ice skating and Laser Quest.

“Spiritual Stuff”

Each day there are two meetings, one in the morning and one in the evening, at which a talk is given on some aspect of the Christian faith. There are also times of worship and prayer during these meetings. In addition there are small group discussions during the evenings, in which members meet with their own dormitory groups. For those who are interested, there are optional workshops covering various Biblical topics. Our aim is to present the truth of Christianity in a way that is relevant to our lives today.

We do not expect members to be super-spiritual; we hope that what we present will be of interest to everyone, but do not want to force it on anyone. There is Christian teaching, but you’re very welcome regardless of whether or not you believe in it or attend a church.

Accommodation

Accommodation is in single-sex dormitories. Members are grouped into dormitories, usually consisting of 5 – 8 young people of around the same age. At Haslemere the accommodation consists of twin and dorm-style rooms. Each dorm group is allocated 2-4 leaders.

Food

Three cooked meals are provided each day. We will accommodate any special dietary requirements of which we are aware; before the holiday begins, members are given forms on which they can inform us of any specific requirements. Drinks and biscuits are offered during the day, and we often run a tuck shop for part of the day. Snacks may also be purchased at the nearby supermarket. We do not allow alcoholic drinks to be purchased or consumed during the houseparties.

Cost

The fees for 2017, covering food and accommodation, will be £200 for easter (5 nights), £265 for summer A (7 nights), £295 for Summer B and C (8 nights), and £117 for Haslemere@Danehill (3 nights). This includes a £30 deposit which is paid with when the booking is first made; the rest is due 8 weeks before the houseparty begins. If the cost is a problem, contact us for advice on possible funding arrangements.
